Hello everyone!
My name is Hans van Oort and I was born on June 13th 1969, in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
I started with photography when I was 8 years old. I used an Agfa Clack and soon my dad gave me a Penn camera. To make a long story very short, after a period of photographing with Pentax, I bought my first Sony digital camera in 2000. More cameras followed and I exchanged these quite often, until I bought the Canon 10D. I used this camera for three years with lots of joy, but in 2006 it was time to get the Canon 1D Mark IIN.
Amsterdam is a great city with a great atmosphere. Only in time and by traveling to Asia, I have learned to appreciate the Asian way of living and kind of dislike the well known Dutch treat (food). The Netherlands (and Europe) has some great history, but when traveling, you learn that much more can be found outside your home country. For example, for a photographer, Japan is a great place to be and it is great to have found a country were people are so used to cameras. Shibuja and Harajuku (in Tokyo) are two among many places where making photos is just as normal as eating sushi.
Just because of this traveling and, of course, by putting the images I had made during my travel online, people found out about my photos and started to order them. So in the beginning of 2007, it was about time to register my own name as a website. But of course, great ideas have to ripen, just like good wine. So in April 2007 I did it, I registered my own website. This was a piece of cake. So after creating this website I'm online with my own website; hansvanoort.net.
